Two Manchester United transfer choices revealed by merciless Nottingham Forest after baffling £90m decisions

Manchester United’s decision to sell Anthony Elanga for £15m while rating Alejandro Garnacho at £70m illustrates the kind of errors that define their transfer missteps.  Manchester United are terrible at signings. That is no surprise. Their terrible history of post-Ferguson acquisitions is painfully familiar. However, they are arguably inferior in every facet of player sales, and insufficient emphasis is placed on how that disastrous failure has been more persistently harmful than subpar recruitment to their prospects for a significant rebuild.  They have never earned over £100m in a single season from player sales (four Premier League teams achieved this in just one season). They are the sole Premier League club whose highest sale happened prior to 2011. They still consider David Beckham's transfer to Real Madrid in 2003 as their fourth-biggest sale ever, and two players ahead of him – Angel Di Maria and Romelu Lukaku – were sold at a loss compared to their initial signing fe...

Premier League: Chelsea vs. Wolves Expected lineup

Chelsea is going through a terrible time at the start of the new year, despite having finally found their rhythm under Enzo Maresca.

Chelsea's unexpected losses to Fulham and Ipswich Town at the end of December marked the start of the issues, and the Premier League draws with Crystal Palace and Bournemouth barely raised spirits. On Monday night, they have the opportunity to regain their form against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Although Chelsea does not currently have a large injury list, Enzo Maresca has issued a warning that Romeo Lavia, Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, and Levi Colwill are all questionable for Wolves' visit. Despite the fact that none of the four trained on Friday, the Italian acknowledged that they are still eligible to play.

This is Chelsea's expected lineup versus Wolves.

Chelsea's expected lineup at Wolves [4-2-3-1]

GK: Robert Sanchez – Sanchez appears to still have Maresca's support despite his many errors. During the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth midweek, the Spaniard's distribution was once again questioned, and Antoine Semenyo beat him too easily at his near post.

LB: Marc Cucurella – The Spaniard will be hoping for a less exciting night against Wolves after being in the center of controversy on Tuesday with David Brooks of Bournemouth.

CB: Levi Colwill – Colwill is a doubt for Monday, but considering Chelsea's center-back problems, he should play if at all possible. If necessary, he can be replaced by players like Adarabioyo and the adaptable Renato Veiga.

CB: Trevoh Chalobah – Chalobah might be thrown into the starting lineup against Wolves right away after being called back from his loan stint at Crystal Palace. Josh Acheampong struggled against Bournemouth, Tosin Adarabioyo is out of favor, and Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana are injured.

RB: Reece James – After saving Chelsea with a free kick in the 95th minute on Tuesday, the Cobham graduate may be eligible to make his Premier League debut for the first time since the early November tie at Old Trafford.

DM: Enzo Fernandez – The Cobham graduate may be able to make his Premier League debut for the first time since the match at Old Trafford in early November after saving Chelsea with a free kick in the 95th minute on Tuesday.

DM: Moises Caicedo – Against Bournemouth, Caicedo started the game at right-back but was moved back to defensive midfield in the second half. He should start there against Andre and Joao Gomes, his South American equivalents, on Monday.

LW: Jadon Sancho – Against the Cherries, Sancho completed more dribbles than any other player, and his straightforward style might frighten a wolves team that lacks confidence. In their last three league games, the Old Gold have given up eight goals.

AM: Cole Palmer – After being mistreated by Bournemouth in the middle of the week, Palmer will be evaluated closer to kickoff. If judged fit enough to play, he will also be assured a starting position.

RW: Pedro Neto – Neto, a former Wolves player, might be selected even though Noni Madueke scored a hat-trick in the match earlier in the season. Since his summer transfer, the vivacious Portuguese has performed admirably when called upon.

ST: Nicolas Jackson – Against the Cherries, Sancho completed more dribbles than any other player, and his straightforward style might frighten a wolves team that lacks confidence. In their last three league games, the Old Gold have given up eight goals.
